PLEASE NOTE: As of January 20, 2010, Hiram's Forum will no longer accept new registrations using gmail.com addresses. This website is the property of the Grand Lodge of Indiana, F&AM. Discussions on this forum are governed by the rules and regulations of the general regulations of the Grand Lodge of Indiana Blue Book of Masonic Law. Violations of any regulations while participating in this forum may be subject to the penalties therein stated.
Dignity and decorum is required of all posts. Moderators reserve the right to remove objectionable postings. All members must provide assurances to Administrator that they are Master Masons in good standing with a regular Lodge in amity with the Grand Lodge of Indiana. All members must identify themselves in their registration by full name, lodge affiliation and location - no anonymous postings will be allowed.
Topics that are Masonically reserved for a tyled meeting are prohibited. Avoid discussions of a political or sectarian, preferentially religious nature. Keep a civil tone. Do not post hostile messages, flames, or use sarcasm to incite negative emotions. Behave in this forum as if you are in Lodge. Respect the fact that not all forum members share the same social, political, religious, or Masonic viewpoints.
Even in non-Masonic topic areas, postings should be in the spirit of Freemasonry, and be of interest to the general Forum. Use common sense and avoid distasteful or disturbing posts. Again, behave as you would in lodge.
Taboo Topics
1. Politics and Religion:
Freemasonry makes much of the notion that politics and religion are never to be discussed in lodge. The actual prohibition is on Partisan Politics and Sectarian Religion. It would be impossible to discuss Freemasonry, its issues, traditions and customs without mentioning politics and religion; however there is no need to debate partisan political matters or sectarian religious dogma. Just as not everyone in your lodge is a Democrat and or a Christian, likewise here, not everyone is of the Jewish Faith or a member of one political party or another. Therefore, while it is acceptable to discuss matters of faith and political thought in general terms, it is unacceptable to discuss matters of a religious or political nature, which might lead to heated exchanges.
2. Masonic Class
There are no topics that can ignite greater debate and lead to an escalation of heated exchanges than the topics of Prince Hall regularity, One Day Classes, and Mixed and Feminine Masonry. Hiram's Forum takes no notice whether one has received the degrees via a “One Day Class” or through the traditional route. We will not tolerate any discussion or opinion that suggests that any one class of Mason is superior or inferior to another. This does not mean that these issues cannot be discussed, but we must ensure that they are kept as harmonious as possible.
3. Criticisms Of Specific Grand Lodges
While this is predominantly a forum for members of the Grand Lodge of Indiana, we have members of virtually every Grand Lodge on the forum. Thus an attack on any one Grand Lodge is an attack on our forum member from that Grand Lodge. We also have several Grand Lodge officers here who are trying to make a difference, both on the forum and in their Grand Body. If you have issues with a specific Grand Lodge, please take it up with that Grand Lodge via your lodge secretary.
Violators are subject to removal from the forum. And please avoid SHOUTING on the forum.
Please remember that we are not responsible for any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message. The Grand Lodge of Indiana is not responsible for links posted to external websites, nor does it expressly or implicitly sponsor, support or condone sites linked to the forum by its members or administrators.
The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of this bulletin board or of the Grand lodge of Indiana. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by email. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. |
